Michael Hurst - Michael Henchard
Michael Hurst, a Brooklyn native, he was the lead singer and multi-instrumentalist in an Irish band called "The Boys of Borstal". He starred in "The Thing About Dan", a 2-man show at the IRT Theater in 2012 immediately after returning from Japan. After spending the next couple years caught in the conflict between office life and his passion for the stage, Michael has now fully committed himself to his love of performing. He looks forward to making his debut at Theatre for the New City and working again. He is overjoyed to be back in it again, and to be able to step into the big shoes of the challenging and domineering role of Michael Henchard.
Emily Stine - Susan Henchard & Ensemble in Act II
Emily has been dancing and performing for most of her life. She is thrilled to be returning to the theatrical stage, after several years away from musical theater, as a member of the original cast of Casterbridge. Prior to her return to theater, she was writing, recording, and touring with her band Emily & the Marauders. Previously she performed in many regional and community theater productions across her home state of Florida including, OKLAHOMA, Three Penny Opera, Into the Woods, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Comedy of Errors. Emily has trained in dance and stage combat and is currently pursuing a degree in theater at The City College of New York.
Katarina Lugo - Elizabeth-Jane
Katarina Lugo is extremely delighted to be making her debut at Theater for the New City as Elizabeth Jane! Katarina is a recent graduate of The City College of New York and was seen in The Harlem Repertory's production of West Side Story’s Maria. Katarina has always taken her passion for theater very seriously and has been nominated for The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for various different roles. She was ecstatic to have been among the top four contenders out of three hundred in the region and was acknowledged with an award as well as the possibility of going to perform against other regions at the Kennedy Center for her portrayal of Rosalind in Shakespeare's As You Like It. This summer she will be studying at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and looks forward to future endeavors.
Sean Beck - Donald Farfrae
Sean Beck is proud to be a part of this new musical. He has worked with David Willinger (Director) before and is thankful for the opportunity once again. He thanks his family for their constant support and love.
Ayanna Williams - Lucetta Templeman & Ensemble in Act I
Ayanna Williams is a singer, actress and lyricist. A Theatre Alumni of The City College of New York, she is excited to be playing the role of Lucetta. Her previous roles include Sheila in HAIR, Daniela in In the Heights, Asaka in Once on this Island, Aunt Em/Glenda in The Wiz and Miss U in Promenade. She has also recorded original music and continues to sing around the city.
Juan Villegas - Christopher Coney
Juan is a veteran of Theater for the New City’s Summer Street Theater and the Arts & Ed Afterschool Program, and has performed in numerous productions within TNC. He is an ongoing member of the Wise Guise: The Scott, Juan and Dan Show, which has been performing socially relevant and socially silly sketches and songs for over 20 years. Juan is happy to be working with David Willinger, again, having previously been a part of his powerful drama: “The Trail of Tears.” Juan is also very proud to be a part of this production of “Casterbridge” and is looking forward to working with this exciting and talented cast.
Rachel Foote Baccus - Nance Mockridge & Ensemble
Rachel Foote Baccus is originally from Bethany, Oklahoma, and is a recent graduate of The City College of New York where she earned a B.A. in Theatre and Jewish Studies and a B.F.A. in Classical Voice Performance. Her previous roles include Mary Jane in Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train and Holly in The Wedding Singer. She is excited to be apart of this brand-new musical!
Daniel Echevarria - Joshua Jopp & Ensemble
Daniel Echevarria is extremely excited to play the role of Joshua Jopp in Casterbridge, a new musical. Daniel is currently a student at The City College of New York, where he was last seen in shows such as See What I wanna See as The Thief and in The Davenport Theatre's production of She Will. Daniel has a burning passion for what he does and will continue his pursuit to show what he can do with theatre by using what's in his mind and imagination for as long as possible.
Tracy Rosten - Furmity Woman
Tracy is thrilled to be making her debut at TNC. Some of Tracy's favorite roles are Dolly in "Hello Dolly", Mama Rose in "Gypsy", Miss Hannigan in "Annie" and Maggie Jones in "42nd Street"
Ruby Hurlock - Mrs. Fall & Mother Cuxsom & Ensemble
Ruby Hurlock is thrilled to be a part of Casterbridge creating the role of Mrs. Fall. She is a recent graduate of CUNY City College and has been passionately pursuing her theatrical endeavors since the age of 11. Professional credits include the first witch in the Long Island Shakespeare festivals Macbeth, as well as a tribe member of Hair at The Secret Theatre. She also studied Shakespeare and his contemporaries at LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) she would like to thank her family and give a special thank you and a big hug to her amazing mother who passed away earlier this year.
John Wiethorn - Solomon Longways & Mr. Grower & Captain Newson & Ensemble
Mr. Wiethorn is thrilled to once again be collaborating with David Willinger, having previously been featured in his 2009 film, LUNATICS LOVERS AND ACTORS. Mr. Wiethorn's New York credits include three seasons with the Harlem Repertory Theatre, having previously performed in AS YOU LIKE IT as Touchstone, Senator Rawkins in FINIAN’S RAINBOW, as well as roles in FLAHOOLEY, TAMBOURINES TO GLORY, and AIN’T MISBEHAVIN. Originally from Bethesda, Maryland, Mr. Wiethorn has performed in over a dozen regional and academic productions including as Billy Crocker in ANYTHING GOES, Benedict in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, as well as roles in THE TRIAL, THE IMAGINARY INVALID, INFORMATION FOR FOREIGNERS, HELLO DOLLY, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, LEND ME A TENOR, COMEDY OF ERRORS, MRS DALLY HAS A LOVER, 42ND ST, BABES IN ARMS, WORK IS LIKE COFFEE, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and SLAVESHIP. Mr. Wiethorn's directing credits include productions of GODSPELL and ENIGMA: A DOMESTIC CONVERSATION. Mr. Wiethorn studied musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, holds a BA from the City College of New York, and a JD from the University of Utah.
Abby DeMauri - Mary, Girl & Ensemble
Abby DeMauri is a recent graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy- New York and is originally from Hollywood, CA. She has done numerous productions around Los Angeles, including 'Hurray for Hollywood...High!' with the famous Carol Burnett at Disneys El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. She is so thankful to be part of this production! Enjoy the show!
Caleb Ricke - Bill Tothy, Boy, & Ensemble
Caleb Ricke is extremely excited to be making his Off-Broadway debut in Casterbridge at Theater for the New City and very honored to be able to do it amongst this incredibly talented cast. He has recently been involved in See What I Wanna See and A Midsummer Night's Dream/As You Like It at Aaron Davis Hall through City College.
Emily Epstein - Fairground Lady, Sally, & Ensemble
Emily Epstein is tickled to be a part of this fun and dynamic cast! A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts via the CAP21 musical theatre conservatory, her energies have recently been focused on teaching new generations of kids to love musical theater. This past winter Emily choreographed Carousel and The Drowsy Chaperone for The Ethical Culture Fieldston School. Now she is excited to get back onto the stage to do some singing and dancing of her own. Other acting credits include Dodie in Childhood at the Robert Moss and Anybodys in West Side Story at DR2. For Sara and Lori.
Matthew Angel - Balladeer, Stubberd & Ensemble
Matthew Angel has performed for many years with theater for the new city's street theater program; which brings musical theater and social commentary to all five boros of New York. This year, Matt has played in An American Worker( by Tom Attea, and Arthur Abrams), and Truce ( by Gene Riffini ).Matthew is thrilled to be a part of this wonderful cast, and hopes to bring the work of Thomas Hardy, David Willinger, Christopher Beste, and everyone else who has worked on this production, to the stage for your enjoyment.
Joann Malory Mieses - Ensemble
Joann Malory Mieses is a New York based writer and director. She has most recently been in a movement piece based off of As You Like It and A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as In The Heights, both at Aaron Davis Hall. She is a cowriter of Comfort Women: A New Musical, going up at Theatre At St. Clements July, 2015. Joann is excited to see that Casterbridge is received by it's audiences for how witty and essentially human it is.
